Hello Bride & Groom’s To Be!
I’m Ruby the Rochester Bride! As a newlywed of the Rochester area, I love sharing my knowledge of the wedding experience with newly engaged couples. This week I can’t wait to share with you how to pick out the perfect wedding cake!
{1} Choose a Bakery: Even if you have a few different places in mind, the first step is to research local bakeries online. You want to be able to compare multiples shops so that you know what will work best for you. They should have photos posted of wedding cakes they have made in the past, which is super important to pay close attention to!
{2} Give Yourself Time: You want to pick a bakery and a wedding cake three to six months before the wedding. Also make sure your baker is available to deliver the cake on your wedding day at the reception location.
{3} Love the Taste: When picking a wedding cake, some brides are so focused on the look of the cake that they completely forget about how the cake will taste! So, when first meeting with the baker make sure to schedule a tasting to try the different kinds of cakes. This will help you to decide what you like and what you don't. It will be fun to spend an afternoon tasting sweets, too! You want to make sure you’re walking away happy with the cake inside and out.
{4} Create a Design: Step outside the cake box! Incorporate your wedding colors, theme and personality as a couple into the design of your cake. It will be a big part of your day, so make sure it stands out.
{5} Decide on Your Budget: Before meeting with your baker, make sure have your budget for the cake in mind. Let your baker know how much you would like to spend, what types of cake you like and what design you have in mind. This should give the baker enough info to give you an idea of what your wedding dessert will cost.
