Hello Bride & Groom’s To Be!
I’m Ruby the Rochester Bride! As a newlywed of the Rochester area, I love sharing my knowledge of the wedding experience with newly engaged couples. This week I can’t wait to share with you the top reasons why you should incorporate social media into your wedding:
{1} Wedding Website: At the beginning of the wedding planning process, create a wedding website! The purpose of this is to help you communicate with all your guests in one easy step. You can include the basics like the date, directions and close hotel accommodations for out-of-town guests. You can also add personal touches like a background of your love story, or pictures from the proposal. You don’t need to be a computer guru to do so either! These websites are easy to create using Wedding Wire and other similar wedding planning sites. Email out the link to your guest list, or include it on your “Save the Dates” or invitations to keep everyone informed.
{2} Wedding Hashtag: Weddings these days frequently use hashtags. I recommend creating one shortly after your engagement and adding it to all your posts regarding your wedding planning or your fiancé. It will get people excited for the big day while also updating friends and family who may be farther away.
{3} Pintrest Wedding Registry: I love Pintrest, but it especially came in handy while I was planning my wedding! We went out to stores to register for gifts, but I also pinned things I loved on Pintrest. This is a great place for those who want to give you a unique gift to look.
{4} Live Stream of Ceremony: Chances are you are going to have invited guests not able to make it to your wedding. For whatever reason this may be, they no longer have to miss out on the ceremony! Set up a live stream of your big day so that your relatives and friends can still witness you say, “I Do.”
{5} Instagram: You may be too busy on your wedding day to worry about posting to social media, but that doesn’t mean you can’t encourage your guests to! Ask them to post their pictures of the day using the hashtag you created. This way you won’t miss a moment of your wedding!
I think social media is a really cool way to keep everyone updated and connected with your wedding, but don’t get too wrapped in it that you forget to enjoy your special day while it is happening!
